Step 1: Learning to See

Learning to draw is learning to understand nature. Learning to understand light, and the form it creates as it touches everything around us.

So the first thing that gets involved and challenged, as you start your journey to become a skilled draftsman and painter, is your eye, and its ability to be objective when observing the reference at hand.

Most of the challenges that we face on this journey are, weirdly, our own preconceptions. WE know that we don't know how to draw, that's why we are in drawing class, but still the brain will be making all sorts of decisions that will be constantly holding us back. So the first goal of the training is shutting this instinct down and learning how to be true to the feedback of nature.

Your instructor will help you tap into all of these truths, and you'll never see the world in the same way again!
